PAST EVENTS 2019

THE ANNUAL CHURCH SOCIAL EVENING
social1_edited.jpg

On Saturday 12th  January we hosted the annual church Social evening.

We began at 7.00 pm with a delicious 4-course meal, followed by a humorous review of the year 2018.

Thanks to Mike Day for putting the review together and the team of caterers for preparing the superb meal.

A DVD FILM EVENING

We hosted a DVD evening on 24th February where we watched a warm-hearted docu-drama on the life of Gladys Aylward, the 20th century missionary to China.

We all learned many things about this ordinary woman who experienced the extraordinary, simply because she says "yes" to God.

A TOUR OF THE ZOOLOGY MUSEUM OF CAMBRIDGE

On Friday 1st March a group from the church enjoyed a guided tour of the museum.

TEA AND TALK

Midwife ANNA SHASHA was our speaker at Tea and Talk on Sunday 17th March @ 4.30 pm.

Anna spoke about her passion for her work, and how her faith impacts what she does.

10 - PIN BOWLING

A group from the church and many visitors enjoyed a night out on Monday 18th March at Lakeside Lodge, Pidley.

We were a group of 30, with 24 bowlers and another 6 joining for a meal beforehand.

As always there was much fun and laughter and we look forward to hosting this hugely successful event again.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE

As we did last year, to begin our Easter Sunday celebration we met in the fruit orchard for a Sunrise service. We read some passages from John's gospel and were reminded of the journey of faith displayed through the lives of those recorded in the text.

These early birds were rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise.

A DAY OUT TO WALTON ON THE NAZE
A day out was enjoyed in the Summer to Walton on the Naze.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING

We celebrated Harvest in 2 parts this year on the last weekend of September.

On Saturday evening we enjoyed a 3 course meal and local retired farmer, Geoff Pake talked to us about mechanisation in farming and harvest.

On Sunday morning Michael Phiri preached a wonderful sermon where he remembered harvest in his native Africa and the harvest of souls through the gospel.

 with Richard and Ruth Wallis.

ANNUAL CAROL SERVICE

We thoroughly enjoyed the Carol Service on Sunday 22nd December. It was encouraging to welcome many visitors and to catch up over refreshments after the service.

Merv's male song group came together at short notice and enthralled us by singing two carols.

Well done to everyone involved.
