Here are some of the events we've enjoyed in 2016.

Lego event at Kingfisher church
Lt Paxton

The Kingfisher church organises family Lego events and some of our folk visited on 27th February to see whether this would be interesting for us to try.

Tea and Talk:
Why is Cyber Security Important?

On 20th of March Stan Stoyanov gave a very interesting and slightly worrying talk about security on the internet.

Every time we use a search engine or access a site on the computer information is collected, stored and sold on to marketing companies.

We need to be very careful on the sites we visit and it is crucial to keep security systems up to date.

Ten pin bowling

On Monday 21st March we enjoyed an evening at Lakeside Lodge, Pidley.

24 people were bowling with another 6 joining for a meal.

As always there were prizes to be won, many of them being of the Easter egg variety.

Top five lady’s scores were 78, 82, 91, 92 & 117.

Well done to Linda English for a very convincing win!

In the ultra-competitive men’s league the top five scores were 129, 131, 133, 133 & 137.  Congratulations to Michael Cook for heading the list, where only 8 points separated the top 5.

Prize for the best improver of the night went to our own Pastor, David Smith, whose second game scored a full 48 points more than his first following a change of tactic from speed to accuracy.

Special ‘wooden spoon’ prize for the lowest score of the evening went to Gina Cook although the actual score will remain a well-guarded secret!

Ten Pin Bowling is just one of many social events that we organise.  Why not join us for the next one?

Garden visit

A group visited Docwra Manor, Shepreth, near Cambridge on Friday 6th May .

The gardens at Docwra are an interesting collection of different gardens and well worth a visit.

RSPB Visit

A visit to Over Fen RSPB site was arranged for Friday 10th June. Hannah Birnie, the head warden, led a walk pointing out the wildlife including marsh harriers and a distant bittern.

Lego Events

We hosted LEGO building mornings on the following dates:

9th July, 10th September, and 12th November.

Bacon rolls were available all morning and those that attended enjoyed creative and fun sessions.

Hunstanton Visit

On the 6th August, 29 of us visited Hunstanton on an uncharacteristically warm day. We hired the Day Centre minibus and enjoyed a BBQ at Haddenham courtesy of Kate & Gordon on the way back.

The annual Chapel BBQ was held on Sunday 28th August at 1 pm at the Manse, 24 West Street, Over.

Thanks to Bob Kitson for his expertise in BBQing the meat. An enjoyable afternoon was cut short by a very heavy downpour of rain.

Day Centre Quiz

The annual quiz to raise funds for the Over Day Centre was enjoyed by all on Friday 7th October at the Day Centre.

Our thanks to Mike and Kate Day for arranging the quiz for the evening.
